Polyester nonwoven: The versatile basis for meltblown filters in liquid and air filtration
When it comes to meltblown filters, polyester nonwovens are true all-rounders. They form the basis for highly effective filter media - both in air filtration and liquid purification. At the Sandler Group, we combine decades of meltblown expertise with careful material selection and innovative processing. For filter solutions that achieve top performance.
Why polyester nonwoven is ideal for meltblown filters
In the meltblowing process, a polymeric resin is melted and pressed through fine nozzles to form extremely fine fibers. The resulting polyester nonwoven combines excellent mechanical stability with chemical resistance and flexibility in processing. Ideal for filters in air filtration and liquid filtration.
Meltblown filters in air filtration
Sandler meltblown plies are characterized by extremely fine fibers that efficiently retain even the smallest of particles. Examples of applications are:
- Industry: Nonwoven filter media made of polyester improve air quality, reduce operating costs thanks to long service lives and ensure reliable protection of sensitive production environments - for example in cleanrooms or in applications such as HVAC systems.
- Filtration in everyday life: In vacuum cleaner bags, extractor fans or air conditioning systems, polyester nonwovens reliably filter dust, pollen, viruses and bacteria - for clean indoor air and a healthier environment.
- Mobility sector: polyester based meltblown filters ensure comfortable and safe indoor air, long service life and are based on recyclable, unmixed materials
Meltblown filters in liquid filtration
Our polyester nonwovens are not only used for efficient filtration in air filtration: meltblown filter media are also indispensable in liquid filtration. They are, for example, used to separate particles in water or chemicals. Hydrophilic variants in particular are suitable for demanding applications. The large surface of meltblown ensures effective filtration with comparatively low pressure loss.
The special solution: polyniq
For applications with extreme requirements, Sandler offers meltblown solutions based on special polymers: polyniq. Here, high-performance plastics with specific properties are used in the meltblown process, including PPS, PLA, PA6, PA12 or PBAT. These polymer nonwovens offer special properties:
- PPS: Heat and chemical resistant (ideal e.g. for exhaust gas filtration)
- PA6: hydrophilic and mechanically robust (perfect for liquid applications)
- PLA or PBAT: bio-based or compostable (for sustainable filtration solutions)
In close development partnerships, innovative filter and nonwoven applications can be optimally realized and individually adapted to the respective requirements.
Polyester nonwoven: versatility meets capacity
Polyester nonwoven is suitable for versatile applications. Thanks to its excellent properties and reliable performance, it is a central component of modern filter systems.
With our decades of expertise in the field of meltblown filters, combined with innovations such as the polyniq product line, Sandler supplies filter media that are not only technically convincing, but also tailored to individual requirements.
