Bird's eye view of the Sandler Group building in Schwarzenbach

Sandler AG establishes Sandler Energy Solutions GmbH & Co. KG and invests in renewable energy

Schwarzenbach an der Saale/Germany, December 10, 2025 – Sandler AG´s Executive Board has decided to consolidate its renewable energy activities under the newly founded Sandler Energy Solutions GmbH & Co. KG. The company is also investing approximately eight million euros in two additional photovoltaic systems and infrastructure measures at its site, such as the renewal of electrical grids.

New entity to create a meaningful formal structure for renewable energy initiatives

“The decision to invest in renewable energy – and thereby reduce our company’s Scope 2 carbon footprint by nearly 50% by 2028 compared to 2021 while also lowering electricity costs – is not new. The focus now is on creating a meaningful formal framework for these issues through the new company.” says Philipp Ebbinghaus, CEO of Sandler AG.

The newly established Sandler Energy Solutions will integrate projects such as photovoltaic installations, including the system commissioned in 2025, as well as two new PV projects planned for 2026. Already, the electricity generated by Sandler’s existing PV system corresponds to the annual energy consumption of about 400 four-person households.

Decisions on wind power and battery storage expected by the end of 2026

The establishment of Sandler Energy Solutions GmbH & Co. KG does not change the fact that Sandler AG has not yet made an investment decision for or against its own wind turbines. A respective decision is expected by the end of 2026, as, for the time being, not all legal, technical, and economic prerequisites have yet been met. For one, the prospective purchase price is still unknown because the critical wind measurement has not yet been completed. "We also have the topic of battery storage on our radar – independently of the wind decision still to be made. We are currently in the evaluation phase and exploring various options,” says Philipp Ebbinghaus.
