Starting Careers Together

On September 1, 24 apprentices and dual-study students will begin their careers at Sandler. For them, it’s the start of a new chapter in their lives with eleven apprenticeship programs and fields of study to choose from.

    A Cohort with Many Perspectives

This year’s group of apprentices and dual-study students is as diverse as the opportunities available at Sandler. They bring with them a wide range of experiences, educational backgrounds, and personal stories. Some grew up in the region, while others have only recently moved to Upper Franconia. What they have in common is that they are all starting an exciting new chapter at Sandler.

    First-Ever Mechatronics Apprentices at Sandler

This year marks a special milestone right from the start: for the first time, Sandler is offering an apprenticeship in mechatronics. Three apprentices are beginning their training in this new field, which combines mechanics, electronics, and computer science. As industrial production systems become increasingly automated and digitalized, the demand for skilled professionals who understand mechanical, electronic, and digital systems is growing. By introducing this apprenticeship program, Sandler is strategically expanding its training opportunities to include this future-focused field.

    Training Opportunities Across Many Fields

The training opportunities at Sandler are diverse, and this year’s class reflects that diversity. The 24 apprentices and dual-study students are starting in eleven different apprenticeship programs and fields of study. Particularly well represented this year: technical jobs such as Industrial Maintenance Technicians, Warehouse Logistics Specialists, Mechatronics Technician and Industrial Electronics Technicians.

With this new class, a total of more than 60 apprentices and dual-study students are currently completing their vocational training or dual-study programs at Sandler. Whether in production, logistics, maintenance, laboratory services, IT, or business functions, they gain hands-on experience while exploring the many different career paths and working environments the company has to offer.

    Getting to Know Each Other

The first opportunities to connect came even before the official training period began. During Sandler’s Apprenticeship Day, future apprentices and dual-study students, together with their parents, received valuable information about the training programs and had their first opportunity to meet their future colleagues. The focus on teamwork and community continued during the apprentice outing that followed. Through activities such as laser tag, bouldering, and other team challenges, new and current apprentices got to know one another in a relaxed and informal setting.

    Well Prepared for the Start

The first days of training are all about helping newcomers settle in and find their footing. In addition to an introductory day, the new apprentices and dual-study students learn about the company, their work areas, key contacts, as well as important safety procedures and workplace guidelines.

Company tours and training sessions on products, processes, and occupational safety help them quickly become familiar with their new surroundings. During the first weeks, they build relationships, learn how the organization works, and develop an understanding of the many departments and processes that shape everyday life at Sandler. Throughout this period, they are supported by their trainers and instructors as well as experienced apprentices. The onboarding program concludes with a joint Life Kinetik® training session focused on concentration, coordination, and teamwork.

For the 24 apprentices and dual-study students, a new chapter begins, filled with new experiences, learning opportunities, and personal growth. We wish them a successful start and look forward to supporting them on their journey at Sandler.
