Nonwoven Fabrics & Technologies
Nonwoven fabrics are versatile, high-performance materials playing a central role in many aspects of our everyday lives and industry. At Sandler Group, we leverage our 140-plus years of experience with state-of-the-art nonwoven manufacturing processes to develop functional, custom-made nonwoven fabrics — from the initial concept to the finished product.
What are Nonwovens?
Nonwovens are textile fabrics that, as the name suggests, are neither woven nor knitted. Much rather, they consist of fibers that are bonded together thermally, mechanically, or chemically. This way, properties such as tenacity, breathability, absorption, or elasticity can be tailored to suit specific requirements. Nonwoven fabrics come into play wherever functionality, efficiency and variety of materials are required in industrial applications, mobility, hygiene, or specific technical solutions.
Which are Sandler Group's Nonwoven Manufacturing Technologies?
For the production of our nonwoven fabrics, we apply state-of-the-art technologies to manufacture products that meet the highest quality standards:
- Meltblown
For ultra fine fibers that impress particularly in filter media and other technical applications. - Spunlace
Hydroentangled nonwovens for soft products with a textile feel e.g. in medical and hygiene applications. - Needlepunch
Mechanically bonded nonwovens for robust applications. - Thermobonding / Thermofusion
Thermal bonding of a fiber web without chemical binders - for a wide range of products, from filtration applications to hygiene articles. - Verbundwerkstoffe
A combination of different nonwovens creates high-performance composites for special applications.
Does Sandler Group offer the possibility of client-specific developments?
The answer is yes. Sandler's R&D is cooperating closely with clients for the creation of customized solutions. Some options:
- The development of client-specific nonwoven fabrics
- Adaptation of existing products to special requirements
- Support for sustainable and resource-efficient solutions
- Support from the initial concept to series production
This results in nonwovens that are precisely tailored to our customers' requirements.
Which partnerships has Sandler Group formed?
Sandler Group is creating innovations also by means of specific partnerships. One example is Phoenix Non Woven, a specialist in wetlaid technologies. In this strategic partnership, we pool our expertise as nonwovens manufacturers and expand our portfolio particularly in the field of specialty technical nonwoven fabrics for applications in mobility, energy storage, or other high-performance applications. Such collaborations strengthen our innovative capacity and enable us to develop groundbreaking solutions for our customers.
What is an example of a development by Sandler Group?
One highlight of our development competence is polyniq®, a line of special meltblown nonwovens based on select special polymers.
polyniq® nonwovens offer
- High thermal and chemical resistance
- Precisely adjustable functional properties
- Functionalization of surfaces or materials, e.g. hydrophilic or electrostatic
- Options for sustainable or bio-based polymer solutions
polyniq® demonstrates the creation of high performance nonwovens, materials that go beyond standard products and open up new fields of application.
