What properties are essential for nonwovens in water filtration?

The meltblown technology is particularly effective for producing fine fiber structures. Within this process, a polymer is melted and processed into fine fibers, creating a nonwoven structure with ideal conditions for efficient particle separation. Both the fiber structure and material composition can be tailored to the specific requirements of each application.
The choice of polymer is equally crucial. For specific applications, specialty polymers such as PA6 and PA12 are the right choice. PA6 is inherently hydrophilic, abrasion-resistant and mechanically robust, making it particularly well suited to aqueous applications. PA12 absorbs very little water, is hydrolysis-resistant and has a highly wettable surface. As a result, the filter medium retains its dimensional stability and functionality even under challenging liquid conditions.
